May 8, 2012 Update
Dear partners and praying saints,
I am compelled to share with you this serious issue which really need your prayers so much.
I and my team went to Muwele for the ministry on Friday last week and came back on Sunday the 6th 2012. On Saturday Milan one of Koos' disciples came from the swamps ( Kalimankonde ) where he went to plant a church. He came with a man whom he introduced to us as the husband a Traditional Health Practitioner (Witch Finder ). Milan preached to this couple and they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted him as their Saviour. To show their true repentance the couple brought their charms, medicines and idols and then Milan burnt all these things.
When the parents and relatives heard about what happened they came and seized Milan took him to the village headman accusing him of destroying the business of their daughter just like in Acts 16 vs 16-24. They wanted to kill him but the member of Paliament came in and saved his life by telling them that Milan did a good job and then told Milan to leave the island immediately taking the husband of the witch finder because his life was also in danger as well.
When the man was brought to me l started questioning him to get the truth of the matter. He produced the certificate and a membership card of the THPAZ which is the association that deals with finding witches and wizards give to tjeir members with his wife's name on them. In short this kind of people are exparts and very experienced witchcrafts who do not compromise with other junior witches, They are possesed with the spirit of killing and destruction. As l am writing this email to you l have their card and certificate with me here in Mpika.
I took this man together with Milan at the church and during deliverence time demons manifested in this man and also other 21 people three men and18 women were delivered. The Holy Spirit worked mightly when Doris was preaching and Dessy, Peter, Belita, Pamella and Milan's two sons and l were busy praying for the deliverence and casting out the demons out of the people. Many people came from the village to watch and unfortunately some of them fell down as demons started to manifest in them.
Now the issue is, while Milan was there he was asked to which church he belonged and he mentioned our ministry and told them my name and Koos' name. Milan also gave them my mobile cell number. The MP reported the issue to journalists and the story was on the national radio so any time l shall be called for questioning. We have also asked Milan to bring the man and his wife to Mpika Boma church because we feel the that the woman also needs deliverence. I am going to pick them from Muwele on 14th so that we stay with them and disciple them also find them something to do so that they do not go back to their old business.
Kalimankonde is known by it's so many witches and wizards. Many people are killed misteriously by man made crocodiles and sometimes drawning into the water like it was going to happen when Milan and this man were coming to Muwele the man fell off the boat and he could not swim so Milan acted quickly and pulled the man into the his boat.
Brethren we need your prayers so much. The HolySpirit is at work here and the Lord is saving people while miracles are also taking place. I shall send you the full testmony when this couple comes to Mpika. I am glad because Sherman and Tim will be here to meet them and hear for themselves.
Please if anybody has a camera that he or she is not using may donate it to us because we would like to be sending you pictures of what is really happening here in order for you to pray earnestly.
May our wonderful Jesus Christ the coming King bless you richly.
His servant, Henry.
April 20, 2012 Update
Dear praying saints and partners,
I am so glad to share with you what the HolySpirit has done during our two missions. Our first mission was on 13th March 2012. We went to Puta Luapula Province 800 kilometers from my home. We trained church leaders from different churches including Congo. The training lasted 5 days after that we went to the Pygmies place in the bush about 30 kilometers from Puta. It was not easy to reach the place as there was no good road and one of the car got stuck. It was also very difficult at first to teach the Pygmies because of language communication and they were sometimes afraid to mix with other tall people. We really strugled to make them understand the gospel but finally with God's grace upon these people some believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior and I baptized 18 of them. This is awesome and may the Lord receive all the glory. Pymies ministry lasted 4 days. The Pygmies are people who have no identification in Zambia as result they have no schools and hospital. Most of them have Bahai faith this made their women to deny Jesus Christ as their savior very few believed. These people do not grow food and have no tools they also have no clothes. When left we had a break down one of the vehicles fun belt broke. This made us stranded and stayed a weak etra against our programe. Koos and his SA team left Puta after putting Nicky on the bus to catch a plane for USA. And he came back to pick us. To contine.
In my part one I spoke about how the Pygmies responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I still confess that it was indeed by the grace of God for those who believed. My ministry team want to go back to disciple the 18 who believed and baptized. Remember it is 800 kilometers from my home to Puta where we shall go by car and then leave the car and walk more than 30 kilometers to the bush where the Pygmies live. We need not less than $2000.00 for transport and the agriculture tools for Pygmies also some second hand clothes for them. We woukd like to speak to government official to consider these people as human being, their plight and give them land, schools and hospital. These people can not read or write and can not count. Please pray for us that we can go without fail. Second Mission Trip. This took place on 5th April 2012. We arrived at Mpata in Samfya the following day and started God's work. This was a conference where we had many churches we have planted attending. This conference lasted for 3 days and 30 people were baptized. We experienced alot of demon manifestions. Many people were delivered and saved. We really praise God ( Luke 17vs10). This conference was held in Samfya where a new church was now started. We are glad that the HolySpirit was really at work in us. Our plan is to go back and strengthen the disciples as we go to Puta for the Pygmies and we also want to visit our Congo churches where there is a cry because since the 13 churches were planted we have not been there. Pray for this missions, Pygmies, tools, a boat for Chilubi and Itala churches, pray for the needed funds. Please pray earnestry for the funds to finish the roof for our Boma church. We are worshiping in the church building which has no roof since 2008. You may see the photo of the church building on the page of my facebook.
Later Update
I trust you are all doing well. I have felt that l could share with you what l call the latest. For two Sundays we have been meeting at our new un finished church for worship and it has been a very wonderful experience. I think you can guess what it is like to worship in such a place where you have no roof, no doors and no chairs. Some members who live near the church come with their own stools and others bring mats. To some who live very far like my family we sit on piece of cement blocks and visitors also are given blocks to sit on. Dear saints this is the situation and the other thing is the cold wheather. April, May, June and July are the coldest months of the year. We are feeling very cold that it becomes difficult to sing and some days it is so cloud and no son is seen the whole day. Well, l hope you will be praying with us and that new members will not go to other churches where they will find shelter. May the good Lord bless you. In His love, Henry.
Thankyou so much may God bless you all.
Humbly your co-worker in His vineyard,
Henry Katontoka.
IMD Office, Church Planting and Leadership Development
- IMD Africa has opened an office in Zambia. IMD Zambia has a local board and is working alongside two 'faithful men' - one in the Northern Province (Pastor Henry Katontoka) and one in Lusaka (Pastor Moses Zulu, who pastors Rocky View Baptist Church). In Lusaka, we have sponsored and will be sponsoring conferences to train and equip leaders.
- We have been involved in church planting in Nabwalya, Muwele, and surrounding areas. In addition, we are busy doing church planting in the Bangweulu swamps of the Northern Province.
- The church in Muwele is reaching out to neighboring communities. This church is seeing a spontaneous multiplication of churches. They have also started an orphans ministry, a widows ministry, and a vegetable garden project to benefit the people of these areas.
- We are over the halfway mark in translation of 'Train & Multiply' materials into Bemba, as well as Bisa-Lala. We are starting to compile this into booklet form and will begin implementing this programme for 'spontaneous multiplication of churches', in 2005.
