Word from Scripture:
“And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.” 1 Kings 4:29 (NKJV)
Servants of God are likely familiar with and probably
engaged in putting their spiritual gift(s) to use in ministry. Most would love to have God increase their
gift(s); either in number or in magnitude. Some would even appreciate God adding great understanding along with the gift(s) He has given them. And imagine with me how many servants of God want God to increase the size of their ministry. Isn’t it interesting what we servants of God want and maybe expect from God.
But, look at what is said concerning Solomon, king of
Israel. God gave him “largeness of heart” along with the gifts of wisdom and understanding. It seems to
me under the Holy Spirit that an increased capacity of heart would be a magnificent accompaniment to whatever gift(s) God gives me. I wonder how many of us yearn before God that He might give us an increased capacity – broadening and deepening the impact of the gifts He has granted. Could it be
our heart is resident to other things which reduce its capacity for God, the things of God, and the gifts of God? Is it time for a self-examination? Better yet, is it time for a God-examination (see Psalm 139:23-24)?
Spiritual Leadership Concept:
God can grant not only a gift to a chosen one, but also
increase the capacity of that chosen one to multiply the impact of that gift.
Prayer:
“Oh, Father, that You might increase the capacity of us all in the gifts You have granted us in order to hasten the coming of Your kingdom.”
