As we consider our nation's heritage, I am reminded of a few lines from one of our most beloved patriotic songs. "O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain...." The song was first written as a poem titled, "Pikes Peak," written in 1895 by Katharine Lee Bates, inspired by a trip she took to Colorado's own legendary Pike's Peak. It was published on July 4th. The rugged beauty of the sculpted mountain reflected the rugged individual spirit that typifies so many Americans. Thus this painting was created. It serves as a homage to the freedom we have in this country to celebrate life, courage, and God's creative hand.
Our friend, Benjamin Hummel, has made this 20" X 16" original oil-on-canvas painting available to us at a very reasonable cost so IMD International can make it available to one of our champions - one who champions our mission as a teaching ministry. Who is the artist, Benjamin Hummel?
Benjamin Hummel is an accomplished artist who depicts the charms and nostalgia of history in his detailed paint-ings. He is an experienced student of history. The way Benjamin layers his humor and wit into his original oil paintings has often been compared to the delightful im-ages of Norman Rockwell. Benjamin studied fine art in illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (BFA). Since then, his paintings have received various awards from local institutions and have been featured in several books and magazines.
Painting for Life, co-founded by artist and storyteller Benjamin Hummel, is dedicated to illuminating the richest joys and truths about living. We value life and strive to showcase this through our art. We also paint for life, as we will be artists until the day that we die. Finally, we paint for The Way, The Truth, and The Life, as we dedicate all of our work to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gives us Life, as well as the gifts of which we share with you.
Benjamin is also the recipient of two liver transplants and frequently battles chronic illnesses that have plagued him since childhood. Even still, Benjamin finds hope through Christ and has dedicated his art to capturing the joys found in life.Benjamin Hummel
